Music and pictures for Blimpie

I shot some still photography and composed some music for Blimpie recently. I've been doing more music jobs lately which I've really been enjoying. I was missing it.

So here's my photo of a Blimpie combo and the link to the $5 Dollar Subs commercial I created the music for. They wanted something percussive to cause you to want to look at the TV during commercial time. You know, when your in the kitchen looking for snacks.

Engagement Photo Session

A few of my favorites from an engagement photo session with Steve and Christine.

Here's what Steve & Christine had to say.

“As soon as we first saw Victor’s work we knew there was no way we would have anyone else shoot our engagement photos for us. Even while at our very scenic locations we did not realize how much he would blow away our expectations! We are far more happy with the results than we ever thought we could be. Everyone that sees our engagement photos are stunned! Thanks Victor!”

Fall of Empyrean

Promotional photo for the Arizona metal band Fall of Empyrean
Here's what they said about their photos.

"Hi Victor! Just wanted to drop by to thank you again for everything, we couldnt be more happy with the photos, they turned out great. You gave us exactly what we were looking for. We will definitely recommend you highly to anyone looking for new photos, we'll be in touch." - Richard, Fall of Empyrean

(They may look intimidating but they're really a bunch of nice guys)

Who's the boss?

Bruce Springsteen of course (and the E Street Band). Well, maybe not my boss, but the boss of a sold out jobing.com arena for the evening. I didn't have my 70-200mm 2.8 lens or a larger zoom for this show which was sad. I had to use my old DX 18-200VR which performs disappointingly compared to the 70-200mm 2.8 (as it should for the $1500.00 difference) We had to shoot from the sound board and having a 400mm would've been nice. The other four photographers there had them (as you can see from the image below) which made me feel a little "lens envy". Oh well. I still got good shots.
You can see the rest of my pics from the show at the Phoenix New Times site here Bruce Springsteen Slideshow

Kayla

This is Kayla. Here are a couple favorites from our shoot. I've decided to make this old television famous and use it for a series of photos. This is the second in the series so far.

For this image I composed the shot using an old Rolleiflex, then I shot the image in it's viewfinder using my D700 w/ Sigma 70mm macro lens. Sorry Photoshop, I love you, but not this time.

Lore - Dark City Magazine

Promo shot for Lore. She needed a shot for the Russian music magazine Dark City which she has been featured in a couple of times. They wanted a photo of her holding up the magazine for inclusion in the magazine. Here it is.

You can hear a track that Lore and I cowrote and produced entitled "Release" on her album as well.

Celebrity Fight Night XV

Celebrity Fight Night XV. This assignment for the Phoenix New Times was my first red carpet event. I was a paparazzo I guess. Pictured here are actors Forest Whitaker, John Corbitt, Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps and Music Producer David Foster. See a slideshow of these and other celebrity photos here at the Phoenix New Times Celebrity Fight Night Slideshow

One Wish

Just an image I created for fun. I was feeling the need to use my 70mm macro which I don't use too often. This is the result.

Carden

I haven't done an art piece just for me in almost a year. Well, here's a new one! There's four layers for the image elements (trees and sky from California, cars from Texas, mountain from Arizona) and a texture (scanned tintype) layer for a total of five. Photoshop fun!

Toybox - Band in a box

Promotional photos for the band TOYBOX. Initially I wanted to shoot them in a giant wooden crate suspended from the ceiling and get them spilling out and...Anyway, I had great expectations. Although I am happy with the results of what we ending up doing as an alternative. A much more cost effective alternative that was still creative yet well within the clients budget. We rented a storage unit for a day and lined the walls with paper and threw sheet music everywhere. It was fun. Like with all of my clients, I offered Toybox some different variations on the images. Here you can see a couple different looks I created using Photoshop.

My how the Funkadelic time flies - George Clinton 01.07.09

It's coming up on a year since I went to the George Clinton Parliament Funkadelic show at the Marquee Theatre in February of 2008. It doesn't seem like that long ago and now I'm back at the Marquee with the George and his gang again. I'm glad I got to shoot another Funkadelic show. It was one of those things I really wanted to do and it happened at the perfect time. It took some of the bad out of the bad day I was having. Last years show pics

The rest of the shots from this show can be seen in my MySpace Albums
