Speaking of the Economy (Barry Asmus)

Production stills of Dr. Barry Asmus. Senior Economist for the prestigious National Center for Policy Analysis and named by USA Today as one of the five most requested speakers in the United States. Shot on the set of a Union Digital Media production.

I also composed and recorded the background music for Barry's video "A Tribute To America" which can be seen on the main page of Barry's site.

Always there but often overlooked

Photographers often complain about having to shoot from the sound board which is usually a good distance from the stage. This only happens occasionally but when it does you need a loooong lens like a 300-400mm to get any kind of close up. Also the angle isn't as dramatic or personal as when you're a few feet away from your favorite guitarist or pop diva. But it's not all bad shooting from there. This point of view actually forces you see a very important element that I always love to capture when I shoot a concert. The fans. Without the fans there would be no concert. More importantly the people attending the show are quite a sight to observe. An ocean of heads and hands, sometimes lighters or camera phones. Photos of the crowds and of the bands with their field of fans in front of them make strong statements. You can see exactly what kind of power music commands when you observe this energetic mass and seeing the synergy between musician and concert goer is wonderful! It's something a photographers camera should never miss at a concert.

David Fefolt

Here's an image from my studio shoot with rock singer/songwriter David Fefolt. This was David's favorite one. I like it best as well.

"Victor is one of the most professional and personable photographers that I have worked with. He makes you feel like you're hanging out with one of your old friends and I think that's how he gets the "magic"... when you don't think about trying to look good, he takes a picture and you just do. What a pro..."

P!NK and The Ting Tings

I had the pleasure of photographing Pink on her Fun House tour at jobing.com arena with opening act The Ting Tings Sunday night. Here's a couple pics from the show. You can see more of my images from this colorful concert at Phoenix New TImes.

This shot of The Ting Tings' Katie White bouncing back to an erect position playing with her "looper" pedal on the platform below her is one of my favorites.

Fall Frenzy Music Festival in Tempe

Here's a few photos from Saturday at the Fall Frenzy Music Festival in Tempe.
To be honest I had more fun photographing the crowd than I did the bands but these shots of Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump in action and Pepper's Kaleo Wassman complete with crowd and scenic Tempe backdrop were a couple of my favorite captures. You can see a slideshow of all of them at Phoenix New TImes.

Back to the desert

Wait a minute. Back to? I live in the desert.
It's easy to get off track with all of the different work I've been doing. My fine art photography has taken a back seat for most of 2009 but I'm finally getting back around to working on my "Desert Nights" landscape project. I hope to have the project complete by the end of the year. A collection of Arizona landscape night photos. This image is of the Superstition Mountains lit by a full moon under the clouds taken February 2009, 11:40pm. There's even a few ribbons of snow on the top which may be difficult to see here.
My fine art photography can be seen and purchased at several online galleries. Here's one link below to my work available at VisionLight Gallery. Victor J. Palagano III Prints

The Cramer/Sanchez Band

Here's a few favorites from my studio shoot today with the Cramer/Sanchez Band. A talented group of musicians and great guys.

Here's what they had to say. "Your relaxed professionalism put us at ease and made the session go very smoothly. The finished photos look fantastic. You even made us look good! I'll pass the word.. EYEFUL IMAGES is the way to go!" - The Cramer/Sanchez Band
